I did not wait to be a blogger to kill the music industry. Even when I was a teenager (well, I’m not that old…) I used to buy bootlegs to a guy with long hair and a black old shirt. He sold me dozens of cds. Most of them had a bad sound and were terrible, but few of them were very cool such as the Frank Black live in Amsterdam, the Queens of the stone age with Gotta leave you sung in Spanish or the Nirvana unreleased songs best of. All those records sounded like a used tape. Tennis Bafra reminds me those glorious years.
I already told you about this band back in December 2010. But a reminder is always nice. Especially because the band has signed on the very very good label Nomethod since my first post about them. Also, the song that you can download for free in this post is an unreleased (great) tune that you cannot download anywhere else. A true rarity then. The kind of thing Absolut Noise is dedicated for. The band told me it was “a rare studio outtake, recorded during winter but meant to be a summer song”. They said we could call it Calculate (the irony). Well, it sounds good to me.
Right now, Tennis Bafra stands in the middle of nowhere of the Swedish music scene. Can you believe it ? They have no keyboard, no fashion designer and not even a proper trendy suit. Damn! Am I talking about a “band next door”? Totally! It could even be your band, if only you were not that serious, that smart and that boring.
