Hurrah! Hurrah! They’re back. Three years after their 100% brilliant debut album Arches, praised so much in this blog (their debut was in my 2009 fav albums top ten list and I mentionned them several times, including this interview of the singer of the band), Sonjagon just posted two new songs. Two demos named Below the sea and Gondor.
Sonjagon? A dreaming mix of Nirvana and Radiohead, the two most influencial bands of the 1990s. Sonjagon? Muse with a more grungy grit. Sonjagon? A passive/agressive band that could write caaaaalm songs like Abbey Lake but also some frightening ones like We Are Coming Over Tonight.
Those of you who enjoyed their past tunes as much I did might like their new production. No hits though. Just a nice return which is good enough for me. The great voice is still there. The passive (Gondor) agressive (Below the sea) sound too. An album is on its way. It might be called Man in kino since this is what is written in itunes when you play the songs. More important, the band is looking for a record label to release it. I know the state of music is currently weird, but I cannot believe they do not find any. Anyway, as long as Sonjagon will release songs, you will hear about them in Absolut Noise.
