It has been a very very long time since a band turned me ecstatic like that! Dödsfest, a new band with a short CV but a dreamy casting: Manuela (from Pascal), Conny Nimmersjö (from Bob Hund), Karl Malm (from Mattias Alkberg BD) and Christian Ramirez (from Park Hotell).

“Vi bestämmer över dig” is their first single. Their debut album is being mixed right now for release through Novoton this fall. But they already opened for Jon Spencer Blues Explosion on all their latest Swedish gigs (by the way, JSBX is probably the best live band ever. If you do not believe me just check out this video until its end or at least from the 3’33: an incredible live footage from a French TV show that I actually watched… live).

Dödsfest holds everything I like in a rock band: a raw production, sharp guitars, a straight to the point attitude. I mean only the flesh. Not all the beautiful ornaments that some bands put around. Best exemple: Karl Malm’s voice. Obviously not the kind of voice made for TV shows like “Pop idol”, but a perfect imperfect mix between Bob Hund and The Hives Pelle Almqvist vocals.

All in all, if there should be one comparison, I would say Dödsfest reminds me the simplicity and rock attitude of Riddarna, another Novoton kid. More important : their debut album goes directly to my most awaited album of the year…
