Half between Johnny Cash and Madrugada proudly stands The Glade, the band of Jonas Carping (aka the-guy-with-the-big-big-voice) that I mentioned here.

Their album “What turns on the lights” have just been out. It features some powerful tunes such as my favourite “Alive”, “On our own”, “The World through your eyes” or “The Last Round”. The whole thing is quite classic, sure. But guitars are sharp, melodies catchy and the voice… well, the voice is obviously the strongest asset of the band.

This does not sound typically Swedish at all and reminds me immediately Americana film music or something. But in this genre – Swedamericana – I cannot see any other artists from up North that do it better.

So yeah, you should definitely pay attention and listen to this dark album, far from the mainstream but which can please to anyone with a soul. Especially a broken soul.
